Early Elementary (Grades 1 & 2)

Hello all!
We are off to a wonderful start in the Early Elementary Class. The children have been working hard on their reading, writing and math skills.  We all enjoyed our first field experience trip to Appleton Farms and have been continuing with follow-up activities to learn more about plants. I have enjoyed meeting all of you and am looking forward to an exciting year at Eastern Point Day School.    Barbara Allenbrook
January Update
Happy New Year !  It is hard to believe we are in January.  December went by so quickly. We had our last visit to Appleton Farm.  The children made and illustrated 2012 calendars for their parents. We learned about Chanukah  and Christmas traditions and celebrated both holidays with Mrs. Cronin’s class. And of course we worked hard and enjoyed our part in the production of The Jolly Postman.
This month we will be working hard on Reading , Writing, and Math skills.  In science we have started a unit on weather which will be a follow-up and extension of what we learned at Appleton Farm.  In Social Studies we will be talking about prejudice, inequality and diversity as we observe the Martin Luther King holiday.  We will also be looking at New Year traditions around the world, especially the Chinese New Year.
